According to History, "In 1904, he joined the Liberals, serving in a number of important posts before being appointed Britain’s first lord of the admiralty in 1911, where he worked to bring the British navy to a readiness for the war that he foresaw." Within a decade he became a cabinet member and later was secretary of state for war. During World War II he was made prime minister of a new coalition government. Following the war, Churchill resigned but was eventually re-elected. He retired after 4 years in 1955 but stayed in Parliament for almost a decade. Within a year, he passed away...
